Cosmos, also called Cosmea, are a flat petal flower from the family of the asteracee. Mostly growing 50 cm - 80 cm tall, the flowers come in a variety of colors, ranging in all warm tones: orange, from white to pink, to purple and dark maroon. The three most interesting varieties for dyeing are the orange (sulphureus), the dark purple-pink and the dark maroon - often referred to as "chocolate or ruby red". Cosmea dry very well flat and produce stable prints.
