Japanese indigo, is actually originary from China; family of the buckwheat it seeds resemble it through smaller grains. This family of indigo barying dye are Persicaria Tinctoria, of which a large variety exists, each with differently shaped leaves and flowering either pink or white. Maruba, Senbon, Kojoko shirohana or Kojoko akahana and Akakuki are some of these.
