Horse chestnut is often seen as not useful tree - because of the toxicity of ots fruits. The hulls of the fruits hold great biochromes - red-brown when alkaline; deep black when in combination with iron. Fruits and hulls usually drop from the tree around end September / begin August depednign on the year and can be collected form the ground.
